I am moving on in my 2008 journey through God’s Word. Here are some thoughts and prayers that havebeen provoked by readings in I and II Chronicles this week.
“And Solomon, my son, get to know
the God of your ancestors. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and with
a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and understands and knows every
plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him.”
Meagan and Spencer these words
were written many years ago but I want to echo them to you today. You have both made a decision to have God be
a part of your lives, now remember to seek him and serve him. Do you know that on both sides of your family
there have been generations of believers?
I sometimes forget this but when I remember I cannot help but stop and
thank God that he allowed me be in line with that kind of legacy. Stay faithful
and pass it on to the next generation.
“Be strong and courageous, and do
the work. Don’t be afraid by the size of the task, for the Lord God, my God is
with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all the
work related to the Temple
of the Lord is finished correctly.”
Have I mentioned before how much I
have enjoyed and continue to enjoy having the privilege of helping to oversee
the construction of another phase of buildings on our campus? What started out to be a two year process has
turned into five. There have been ups
and downs; hurdles and surprises however; from the beginning of the project we
placed it in God’s hands, so I say with confidence that it will be finished on
time. There are many things to be
accomplished before we get to occupy the space, however God will help us see to
it that all is finished correctly.
“…for the Temple…is not just another building – it is
for the Lord God himself!”
The last few weeks I have looked
out over the building project and prayed this prayer: God I pray that these
buildings being built will not just be buildings, but they will be a place
where your presence is evident and that what takes place in this space will
lead others to come into a relationship with you for the first time and the
rest of us come to know you better.
“God appeared to Solomon in a
dream and said, ‘What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you.’ Give me
wisdom and knowledge…”
AMEN.
