It is very rare that the sermon text in June is from Luke 1, but that is where we were yesterday. In my 29 years of full-time ministry I believe that was the first time I have heard a sermon from that chapter outside of the month of December. We often use this portion of scripture to set up the celebration of Christmas, but there is much more about God to be studied here. Our pastor took this passage (26-45) and lead us through a study of exactly who Mary was and what an amazing response she had to the terrify news that she was going to have a son. You can find a podcast of this sermon on i-Tunes here: ClearView Baptist. Our services yesterday were led by a vocal team, worship choir, orchestra and rhythm section. It is always a special treat for us to have our orchestra play.
Here are the songs we used in yesterday’s service:
Arise by Paul Baloche and Don Moen arr. by Harold Ross
How Can I Keep From Singing by Chris Tomlin arr. by Keith Everett Smith from www.praisecharts.com
It Is Well With My Soul with new chorus by Todd Fields (the new chorus brings a fresh look to this great hymn)
When I Speak Your Name by Elizabeth Clark and Klaus Kuehn arr. by Bradley Night
