It happened & I could have stopped it

Recently we filled a position and part or their responsibilities is the management of a web-site. It’s a pretty simple job, but the results didn’t match the simplicity. The reason…I did not communicate some simple information that was vital to success. This reminded me how important it is to keep a file for every position on my team that includes: function, tools, logistics, expectations and processes. Then it is my responsibility to communicate these during the interview process, the first days on the job and then routinely follow up and review all that I have communicated.

A simple mistake happened and I could have stopped it, if I had been diligent to communicate to a new employee.

Do you have a process that helps you navigate through adding a player to your team?

How do you track yours and the team member’s progress through the orientation?
