In the summer
- that easy 9:30 training pace may now be 10:00 or 10:15. Same effort different pace.
- the 10-mile race run in March at a 7:50 pace may be an 8:30 pace in June.
In the summer
I will not be running tomorrow, Wednesday, morning. But I will be running on Thursday morning with my Breakfast Club Run friends.
However, running with friends is just the opposite. You get out of bed because people are waiting on you and the miles seem to go faster when most of it is spent in conversation.
The Breakfast Club Run starts from the same place each week, Fleet Feet Huntsville. However, every week is different and that's my fault.
This month we are completing one year of Breakfast Club Runs. What started as a limited group of Wednesday morning runs last summer has evolved into a regular Thursday morning runs.
It's not often you enjoy meeting people who haven't showered and have barely combed their hair. But that is what happens every Thursday morning and no one cares.
Today, a Thursday in the month of May, was no different. The alarm went off at 4:45am. A few minutes later I was headed out the door and over our little mountain from Owens Cross Roads to the Huntsville Fleet Feet location.
When you run you don’t have to think about breathing in fact most of the time you never do. It is only when we push to go faster or run up a hill that you notice your breathing. You notice because your body is craving oxygen and trying to rid itself of the energy making byproducts.
